The early game is being updated next patch (June? July?) to reduce the ridiculous amount of mandatory main scenario quests but the gameplay is still going to be somewhat lackluster until you reach higher levels.ДЇFXIV is not for everyone, especially if you don't care about following a narrative - which WoW is incredibly bad at. Makes for a good endgame outside of the raiding.ДЇFXIV is better if you like to follow a good story with a mutliplayer system that has solid servers. The customization of FFXIV and housing are also really awesome. I think it's an amazing story post level 50 and I resub every expac just to play it and raid a while. There's a lot of unique ideas, and I really enjoy RDM, Ninja, and Bard in particular.ДЄs for lore and story. However, I think DPS in general are more fun to me in FFXIV. Tanking is also pretty trivial but that has gone up and down throughout the years. Instead you often spam a 2 button rotation while no-one dies. Healing in FFXIV is nigh useless once you get to farm or on dungeons. I also think WoW has better class design when it comes to healing/tanking. That being said, I think they both have high quality content, but WoW is just the longer lasting, deeper experience here. The raid is usually cleared by average groups in a week or so. FFXIV follows a very standard progression style that has 1-2 dungeons and 1 raid per patch. Mythic Dungeons/Mythic Raiding are so much more difficult and long lasting than FFXIV content. If you want to raid and do dungeons at the endgame for months to come, I think you should play WoW. It really depends on which of those things you value most.
